NSSAR Genealogy Seminar

This presentation was designed by Larry P. Cornwell, Genealogist General, to be given at the chapter level for those chapters struggling with maintaining its membership and/or interested in building its member base. It's his hope that the presentation will inspire at least one individual in each chapter to step forward to take on public speaking, and that same individual or another compatriot step forward and take on efficiently qualifying prospective members.

The presentation describes in detail his formula for success in both recruiting and qualifying prospective members. It can also be used by anyone preparing their own supplemental applications, especially those who may be unfamiliar with Ancestry.com, the DAR searchable web pages, Fold3.com, and the SAR Patriot Index Vol. III compact disk.

Please see this link to the national website to download the powerpoint presentation which Larry Cornwell gave at the 2012 Fall Leadership conference.

Massing of the Colors 2008

Massing of the Colors

On Sunday 9, November 2008,  The MDSSAR Color Guard joined many other groups at the Massing of the Colors ceremony. This has become an annual event, and was again held at the Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis, Maryland.

The Massing of the Colors is a patriotic ceremony to rededicate our faith in the Flags of the United States and to present our support to those Colors that represent the Servicemen and women who fight under them.  It combines the men and women and their associated flags of many active and reserve component military units, veterans’ organizations, civic and patriotic and lineage organizations in addition to the MDSSAR Color Guard.
