August 9th 2008,Compatriot William Smithson and Compatriot Christopher Smithson, both officers in The Heredity Order of the Signers of the Bush Declaration and Compatriot Robert Ayres color guard drummer participated in the grave marking of Dr. John Archer. Dr. Archer was a signer of the Bush Declaration of March 22nd 1775. The SAR recognizes this act as a patriotic act, and descendants qualify for membership. Many members of the Archer family turned out for the unveiling of the marker.
