Trustee Report, 12 March 2009
The Trustees met at the Spring Leadership Meeting in Louisville on Saturday the 7th of March.
The Trustees approved a proposal to renovate the smaller portion of the new CAAH building (on the left in the photo below) using monies on hand from our fundraising efforts and move the library and the membership application processing function from the existing HQ building into the new building.
This will take place during the next two to three years. The result will free up space in the existing HQ building and will enhance the ability to obtain donations from outside the SAR membership. We still need to raise an additional three million dollars to renovate the remaining portion of the building and move the rest of the HQ, including the Center for Advancing America’s Heritage, into the new building.
A proposal to double NSSAR new membership application fees beginning 1 January 2010 in lieu of increasing annual dues was approved by the Trustees. Supplemental application fees will remain unchanged.
Several minor Bylaws changes were approved. A proposal to delete the requirement for the Chaplain General to be an ordained minister (Bylaw No.14) was tabled for further study.
Nominations for the 2009-2010 NSSAR officers were announced. Our own Dr. Lee Crandall Park has been nominated to be the Surgeon General.
Ian Towler, our MDSSAR Webmaster, was part of the Maryland delegation and was appointed to become the NSSAR Webmaster.
Sincerely,
Ernest L. Irish
