SAR Member Benefits

This message is being posted in response to the overwhelming response on SAR-TALK to Compatriot Lawrence's offer
to help promote the SAR Member Benefits Programs.

 SAR Member Benefits

 Compatriots,

Those of you in attendance at the Sacramento Congress received a Member Services discount card that lists all of the discount programs for SAR members. The card lists the programs available and the necessary account ID numbers required to access the discounts. The card also refers members to our web page for additional information. One of the purposes of the Member Services program, which was conceived by our Secretary General Ed Butler, is to add value to our memberships. We anticipate this program will encourage members to renew their membership and entice prospective members to join.

To further that goal the Texas Society recently voted to print and distribute a Member Services discount card in our dues notices, which we send out in September. We hope this will provide an answer to the eternal question "Why should I renew, what benefit do I receive by being an SAR member"? Although I only have a limited quantity, that were printed courtesy of the GWEF, I can e-mail you the template in a Microsoft Publisher format if you want to print your own cards. These could be printed and distributed in your dues notices, or printed and distributed to your chapter or state society. Please limit distribution to members and immediate family as we must protect the confidential account ID numbers and codes so they do not become known to those who are not SAR members. Just send me an e-mail requesting the template and I will send it back immediatley. The more members use these programs the happier our members, and the better our chances to sign up additional providers, which just adds more value to our memberships.

As you know we have a contract with T-Mobile for cell phones where SAR members receive a 10% discount off their cell phone bills. The Executive Committee voted at the Sacramento Congress to share the rebate we receive from T-Mobile for initial signing bonuses. A state society will receive a $10 rebate if any SAR member living in their state signs up with T-Mobile. This rebate will be paid when it is received by national, typically quarterly. It will be paid to the state society where the member lives without regard to where their primary membership lies, because T-Mobile can only sort the information by the address where the member lives who signs up with T-Mobile. A state society will not have to be involved in the recruitment of the member to T-Mobile, they will benefit just by having that member live in their state. However, if a state wanted to actively solicit members to sign up with T-Mobile then they will receive bigger rebates through their efforts. The rebates are unrestricted and may be used by the state society in any way they see fit. The Member Services Committee will continue to look for revenue sharing opportunities like this so that the states can benefit from their efforts to utilize these programs.
