Maryland Society welcomes it's newest member Governor Martin O'Malley
Maryland Society welcomes it's newest member, Governor Martin O'Malley.
State President David Hoover inducted the Governor into the Society at the Maryland State House in Annapolis. During the ceremony, 3rd VP Lou Raborg presented the Governor with his SAR member rosette.
The Governor was very cordial welcoming all members and thanked State Genealogist Chris Smithson for all the work he had done in getting the Governor's application approved.
Gov. O'Malley entered the SAR using Benjamin Dix as his patriot. Benjamin Dix (1757 - 1827) served in the American Revolution in Connecticut and received a pension for his service (S39446). Benjamin was born on 26 March 1757 in Wethersfield, Connecticut. Mr. Dix married Anna Beckley (1762 - 1827) on 28 March 1782 in Wethersfield, Hartford County, Conneticut. Benjamin Dix died on 19 June, 1827 in Montpelier, Vermont.
