Col. Aquila Hall Chapter Flintlock Rifle Raffle has a Winner!
Col. Aquila Hall Chapter's display table at the Havre de Grace Decoy & Waterlife Art Festival attracted many visitors. Handouts on how Maryland got the nickname of the Old Line State were popular. The young children that stop by were give Betsy Ross Flags, about 50 were give to the youngsters. We had 6 inquiries on how to become a SAR member.
This was the last event for this year's flintlock raffle. The Col. Aquila hall Chapter has been selling raffle tickets at events in an effort to raise money. A record number of tickets were sold this year. The winning ticket was drawn in the afternoon on May 3, 2009. The flintlock rifle was won by Mark Sargable of Conowingo, Maryland. This is the first time someone north of Baltimore has won the drawing.
Mr. Sargable who had been at the show on Saturday was called to inform him of winning the raffle. He asked that his brother, who was at the show at the time of the drawing, pick the rifle up for him. A photo was taken in front of our display table of Gary Sargable receiving the rifle for his brother. Colonel Aquila Hall Chapter wishes to thank all those that purchased raffle tickets and know that the funds raised will be used for the good of the Sons of the American Revolution.
