John Montgomery's grave marking and dedication by the Pack Horse Ford Chapter, NSDAR, Shepherdstown, WV September 19, 2009 at 10:30 at the restored historic Zion (Episcopal) Church Cemetery in Urbana. Lunch following at the Crack Claw. The cemetery is located south of Frederick, Maryland just east of the I 270 exit 26, Fingerboard Rd (MD80) on Urbana Church Road.

Background information:
Per John Montgomery's pension records S. 8901 was born in Calvert County, MD and died in Frederick County, MD. He served as tender on board the ship "Defense" under Captain George Cook (his Uncle) and was also in the VA militia under Captain Thomas Edwards serving at Gloucester Point during the battle of York Town. His grandfather was Rev. George Cooke, Rector of Christ Church in Calvert County, MD. His mother, Janet Cook(e) married John Montgomery and moved to Westmoreland County, Va where John was raised. After his father's death he returned to Calvert County to learn engraving and silversmithing with his Uncle Robert Addison. He married his cousin Isabella Cook Addison who died after giving birth to a daughter Isabella. His second wife who is buried next to him is Joshan Sedwick or Sedgewick who was another cousin and widow of Joshua Sedwick. She was the daughter of Thomas Manning and Mary Ann Cook. Some other family names include Ijams, Waters and Dean which you can tell have deep roots in Maryland.
