Dear Compatriot,

The Captain John Smoot Chapter, Maryland Society of the Sons of the American Revolution next meeting will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 10 am to noon, at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore located at 1320 Belmont Avenue, Salisbury, Maryland, phone 410-677-3670.  Wives and guests are invited.  Afterwards a luncheon will be held at the Salisbury University Commons.

We currently are attempting to build our local chapter by engaging known members of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) and potential new members of the Society. The Captain John Smoot Chapter would be pleased to have you consider joining your local Chapter which serves the four counties listed above.

We serve our local area by engaging in several student programs sponsored by NSSAR at the local high schools within our area.  These programs include:

 

  • JROTC Awards at Crisfield, Pocomoke, Snow Hill, Stephen Decatur, Washington and Wicomico High Schools

  • Good Citizenship Awards to a graduating senior at Crisfield, Holly Grove Christian, James M. Bennett, Mardela Springs, North Dorchester, Ocean City Christian, Parkside, Pocomoke, Salisbury Baptist Academy, Salisbury Christian, Snow Hill, South Dorchester, Stephen Decatur, Washington, Wicomico, and Worcester Prep High Schools

  • George and Stella Knight Essay Contest

  • Joseph M. Rumbaugh Oratorical Contest

  • Eagle Scout Awards

  • Flag Certificates

  • Grave Markers
